Revolutionary Love asks us to do what is hardest: to listen to those we call opponents—not to agree, justify, or compromise, but to understand. This week we explore the transformative, brave, practice of deep listening, the kind that softens the borders of the heart and reveals the wounds beneath another’s words. Through Valerie Kaur’s teachings and powerful stories of real encounters, we learn how listening becomes an act of surrender, a spiritual discipline, and a pathway to building the Beloved Community. Join us this Sunday, September 27th, as Rev. Luz guides us into discovering how listening—when we are safe, grounded, and ready—can expand our hearts, can expand our hearts, reshape our worldview, and help us see no stranger.
Our music this week is by Joy Truskowski.

The Peace Initiative
What if peace begins when we stop seeing one another as strangers?
This fall, Unity of Roanoke Valley invites you into a three-part Peace Initiative inspired by Valerie Kaur’s See No Stranger and the practice of Revolutionary Love. Through a Sunday talk series beginning September 13, a shared viewing and discussion of the film The Best of Enemies, and culminating with an experiential workshop on October 24, we’ll explore what it means to recognize our shared humanity — even across our deepest differences — and put peace into practice in our own lives.
Three experiences. One journey. The invitation: To choose love over fear, connection over division, and peace over separation.
